Insomnia

I am sure I am not alone who is suffering from this disease. These days rather nights I am sleeping only for like 4 hrs. Out of the 4 hrs that I sleep, most part is disturbed because my air-condition makes too much noise or it gets too cold or I get hungry or just for the heck of it. There always seems to be a reason for my disturbed sleep.

I played basketball for 3 hours last evening and I was so freaking tired by the time I came home. My body was begging me to get some rest. I was, in a way, happy because I felt that a tired body will always sleep tight but for some freaking reason I couldn’t sleep till 2:30 AM.

I remember that I used to be able to sleep 7 hrs a day (7 peaceful hours of sleep) but I guess those days are long gone. I have thousand things to think about these days. I really mean it.

I don’t know what is happening to me…

Piracy

I was talking to one of my colleagues today. He was showing me his new iPod that he got as a gift for fathers day, he raised a very interesting question during the conversation.

His son gets all music through P2P sharing at his college, he asked “what is the difference between a poor guy who couldn’t afford to go to college, who goes to a store and shop lifts CDs and my son who does it over the internet.”

I was seriously made to think with that statement. He is right, they both are the same except the poor kid will get arrested for what he is doing.

Living in an apartment

One of the very urging reasons I wanted to buy a house of my own is living in an apartment sucks. My old neighbor used play loud music all the time, especially between 5 to 6 PM, I couldn’t say anything about it because it was not quite hours (for people who don’t live in an apartment, quite hours are usually between 9 PM – 7 AM). A few months back she moved and I was so glad to see her move. So I got this new neighbor who started knocking even if I walk in my house. He has problems even if I talk on the phone.

I was so happy today to see this jerk taste his own sh!t. He was playing guitar today (he sucks at it), 3 neighbors knocked at his door and yelled at him so badly. I was really happy. He smokes all the time and I hate it cuz all the smoke takes a hike through my sit-out which is one of the reasons why I don't go out to my balcony these days. Anyways, I jumped out to the balcony to see his face, Man!!! that was a happy sight. Looked like someone got their @ss whooped. You might think that I am a saddist, but believe me this guy was a Pain (note the capital P).

Apparently one of my friends sent me an email-forward today relating to this incident. It was really funny. Take a look at it:

Note: If you want to stop this video, right click and choose 'forward'. I heard from a few that the sound in this flash file takes over my other media postings. :)

Orkut

Few months back someone invited me to this net-community where you can meet friends and people. I ignored it but recently one of my friends insisted me to join so I joined.

I was able to connect to people whom I didn't hear about in the last 5 yrs. I met my 'bench-mate' (in India 3 people share a desk and a bench, my bench mates were Vikram and Paramaguru) after so many years. I was able to connect to 26 people in 2 days (all of them were either my buddies are someone I know, not any anonymous entity).

I think everyone should try it. If you want to be invited, leave a comment here, I will invite you.

Good news for my liver.

The liver test came out negative. I am so relieved now; the doc said that it could be a temperamental thing which could have been due to excessive medication/drinking a week before the test. Anyways, I can drink again but this time I am going to watch what I drink, may be 1 or 2 drinks a week or even less.

Trip to Gatlinburg, TN

After a long time I felt like I was in India with my family. We had a get together in Gatlinburg, TN this past weekend. I should describe it as one of the most relaxing (mentally) trip I had ever had.

Warm smile and hugs welcomed me at the airport in Charlotte. After a small food stop I drove to this wonderful small town called Greenville. They had a natural waterfall in the middle of their downtown. Where can you find such a beauty? It looked like a college town, people were laid back, the surrounding mountains added to the beauty. Rashmi & Suresh, host of this entire event, were amazing. Everything was planned to the clock (though none of them went according to the plan), a special kudos to them to plan such a long, enjoyable, amazing trip.

We went around the school (Furman University where Suresh teaches) on Thursday morning and went for a small hike that afternoon. The hike was amazing; they had this tropical (kinda) habitat nearby and also a beautiful waterfall. Oops forgot to mention the great southern Indian food that Rashmi had cooked for me. Suresh was rocking with his Canon 20D SLR camera while I enjoyed posing for it though we couldn’t avoid getting Rashmi out of the frame. Like all girls she had to be on all the pictures, how silly, just kidding. I enjoyed messing with her. I would consider her as the best cousin I have got. Rashmi speaks 3 languages – Tamil (to be pronounced Thamizh), English, and Tāmil (to be pronounced Tae+Meel, like a Setu Ootu Ponnu, Sorry I can’t translate that part).

Friday we all started to our main event, Gatlinburg. The whole day passed away in packing, traveling, picking up people from airport. There were 4 families, siblings of Suresh and their family; all together there were 5 kids 2 toddlers and 9 adults (if you consider me as an adult). I love kids but not 5 of them together. “Orange Guy” (cuz I was wearing a orange t-shirt) “Bad Drinking Boy”, “Stinky Guy”, “Monster”, “Slow Pole”, “Ghost” – these were the names the kids used on me :) but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed playing with the kids for long time.

Saturday we went around Gatlinburg, we went to all the joy rides and celebrated a surprise baby shower. Sunday we went for a 2 ½ mile hike which we called off after completing about ¾th of a mile. Believe me, that’s the max you can go when you got 7 kids in the trip. We got to this stream which was amazing. In spite of the freezing cold water condition, we managed to play on it for a while. Oh don’t get deceived by the freezing cold water part, the weather stayed above 90 all the time. For some reason the mountain water stays cold. That night we got into this big Jacuzzi and started talking about old time stories. Most of them were drunk; I was the only one who was not drinking cuz of my health conditions (I think I have yapped enough about it on my earlier post). Rashmi came up with this amazing story which I can’t forget even now. I can’t explain what it is here but man! she had some amazing childhood. Monday we went to Dollywood which was like a mini Disney World. Taking 5 kids to these theme parks was like herding a bunch of cats. I kept annoying them by calling them “Manja thoppi gals” which means yellow cap gals which was more fun. Tuesday was a sad day cuz that’s when we were supposed to leave.

The whole experience was fun. I had a great time after a long time. I am still waiting on the picture. I will upload it here once I get them. I would credit all of my fun part to Suresh and Rashmi who organized this whole vacation.
